Elvaloy single ply roofing membranes were first introduced during the 1970s as an alternative to traditionally made PVC systems. Historically PVC membranes had been softened and made more flexible by adding liquid plasticisers. Some of these PVC membranes suffered performance related difficulties as a result of plasticiser migration. This would lead to reduced flexibility and brittleness, particularly in cold weather or in areas of high UV exposure.

The flexibility of the Envirotech EVA membranes is achieved by the use of Dupont's Elvaloy KEE (ketone ethylene ester) ethylene interpolymer. This is a solid phase modifier which is integral to the membrane. Unlike liquid plasticisers Elvaloy cannot migrate so Envirotech EVA maintains its flexibility, durability and reliable performance for many years.

The Envirotech EVA single ply roofing membranes have several distinct physical properties including weatherability and resistance to a host of chemical and environmental hazards such as restaurant oils, aviation fuel, acid rain, industrial pollutants, microbiological attack and bitumen oils.

The Cooley Group
The Envirotech EVA range of membranes is made for Interloc Building Solutions by the Cooley Group. Cooley are committed to innovative research and development, state of the art manufacturing facilities, stringent process controls, exhaustive safety and compliance testing . Cooley has been manufacturing membranes since 1926 and they are the oldest manufacturer of thermoplastic materials in the USA. Their first roof was installed in 1977. They have successfully supplied over 50million m2 of membrane since that time.
As well as providing single ply roofing membrane they also make environmental containment liners, fuel and water tank materials, medical products, illuminated signs and a number of high performance products engineered for special applications.

DuPont(tm) Elvaloy(r) KEE roofing resins

Dupont manufacture the Elvaloy KEE (ketone ethylene ester) ethylene interpolymer which is one of the main components of the C3 /Envirotech EVA single ply membranes.
Dupont are world leaders in science material development and make such house hold name products such as Teflon® and Kevlar® as well as Surlyn® resins which are used for golf ball covers.
